Inspiring Relay Story - Who's Your Star?
Posted by DaveS. | Posted on 8:51 AM
With all of us in the midst of fundraising and getting our teams together, and with the Survivor's Luncheon this Saturday, I think its important to take the time to share our stories about why we are fighting cancer.
If you have an inspiring story that motivates you, we want to hear it. Drop a comment or an email to me if you are having trouble with the blog and I will post it here.
Who keeps you making those steps?
From Chery Beauprez, Advocacy Chair:
Hi Dave,
I was reading your blog today and decided I would tell you why Adam and I Relay. We have seen the benefits of the dollars raised. Below is what we have on our team site.
Two families. Two moms. Two husbands watching the battle. 7 children facing a fight that they don't understand.
Adam and I have both been affected greatly by this disease. Fighting cancer is a passion that we both have and we have combined that passion into a team we call "A Pair of Jeans."
Donna Jean Beauprez lost her battle with cancer on December 3, 1974, leaving behind 4 little boys and a husband who loved her.
Carol Jean Dowell began her battle on February 7, 2003. Her husband and 3 children are so very grateful she won her fight, but live everyday with the fear that her cancer can come back at any time.
This is why Adam and I relay. So that no more children have to fear losing their mommies, and no more husbands have to carry on without their partners.
Our team is a perfect example of what Relay dollars can do. 30 years of research made the difference between us losing BOTH of our moms, and one of them winning the fight.
